ABOUT US
“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own” – Audre Lorde
This website is a collective archive of the work produced by students enrolled in the Spring 2019 Women of Color Feminisms course at TCU. We are a diverse collection of individuals from a myriad of backgrounds but all invested in grappling with experiences of Women of Color. We aimed not only to learn about Women of Color but also to celebrate them. Through this course, we attained tools for understanding different dimensions of feminism beyond canonical versions that have dominated feminist discourse. We also endeavored to think more critically about terms such as intersectionality, indigeneity, and invisibility among others. Moreover, we have worked to find our own space within the writing and activism of Women of Color and in doing so, many of us found validation for our own experiences that were so powerfully articulated in our course readings and class discussions.
